«Where Do You Wanna Go Today (Variations)», 2017
This work is based on a music album comprising several acts, songs, and stories, and as the title suggests, it addresses the contemporary disorientation of identity. As a comment on the way music is generally experienced and perceived in the digital age, the structure and compositional quality of the piece is playful. Augmented by veiling and unveiling objects of ephemera and fashion, the songs are expressed in chamelionic settings. On one hand, the musical themes are reflections of the mechanisms of pop, and on the other, they bespeak feelings of fear and anonymity, self-love, striving for fame, and struggle within interpersonal relationships. For the artist, the intensity of the performance itself is necessary to counteract today’s social predicament. The ambivalent presence of PRICE aims to synthesize the «in-between» of a generation that he regards as dejected—despite, or perhaps because of, its overwhelming possibilities.
