Winner Swiss Performance Art Award 2024
Zisch, Blubber, Hot & Pot, 2024
This new performance, devised for and premiering at the Swiss Performance Art Award, is a fashion show without models and a cabaret without singers. A catwalk, hot plates, and pots as well as the colours white, red, and pink set the stage. Against the backdrop of this moving still life, Markus Goessi relies on a set of choreographed actions that leave plenty of room for improvisation and exuberance: the milk’s boiling over, popcorn’s popping, chili peppers are being sliced while the tomato sauce is going everywhere. An AI voice proclaims Goessi’s subjective perception of the world, which is drawn from his Instagram account where he processes personal memories and current social issues. Language, sound, odours, and sequences of images are fused into a wild mixture of sensory impressions. Markus Goessi plays with stereotypes and celebrates queerness, sensuality, and authenticity in order to question social norms and patriarchal structures.
