La Fiesta de la Reparación, 2023
In La Fiesta de la Reparación Cecilia Moya Rivera combines her own intergenerational experience of migration with the colonial history of South
America and current debates about reparation. She invites the audience into a dramatically lit scene where a party appears to be petering out. The artist weaves translations of a Spanish pop song, thoughts by authors such as Denise Ferreira da Silca, Natalie Diaz, and Gloria Anzaldua, as well as her own poetic musings into a monologue about injuries, open wounds, and the question of restitution. Things become tense and culminate in an angry reproach; the mood seems to plummet but then becomes an attempt to heal the broken hearts of the party goers.
