«Theodora or The Progress: A RESOLUTION», 2021

«Theodora or The Progress» is part of a project by Alpina Huus that explores the authority of the unconscious as a strategy for empowerment in the name of the Byzantine empress, Theodora, who was possibly the earliest feminist. The artists enact a story of metamorphosis from a human being into a dog that presumes a renunciation of language, superiority, and cultural knowledge. This transformation reveals a precultural intuition, which exposes intellectual justifications for inequality and challenges normative thinking.
